I stumbled upon this adorable Cardboard Construction Paper Flower Pot on mythreewonders Instagram she shares the most adorable kid-friendly crafts and projects! To make our own cardboard flower pots, we were able to find everything we needed right at home. We used things like colored construction paper , cardboard from a cardboard box , popsicle sticks , a hot glue gun and hot glue sticks , and stickers and crayons to decorate our flowers.
Our kids were SO excited to make these DIY cardboard construction paper flower pots and they were especially thrilled about the final product! I used a pencil to trace a "flower pot" shape and then cut it out with scissors. It doesn't need to be perfect! Using the cardboard or card stock flower pot as a template, trace the same shape onto a piece of brown construction paper and cut that flower pot shape out as well.
Using your hot glue gun, add a line of glue around the inside rim of your cardboard or card stock template along three sides: the left and right sides of teh pot and the bottom. Then affix your brown constuction paper to that. You want the bottom and sides to be glued shut, leaving the top open so that you can insert your popsicle stick flowers.
I found that adding a line of glue about two to three inches down from the top opening kept my popsicle stick flowers from sliding all the way into the pot. Next, make your popsicle stick flowers. Cut flower shapes from colored construction paper. Again, your flowers do not have to ber anywhere near perfect. Optional: let your kids decorate their paper flowers using stickers, glitter, crayons, markers, etc. Once the paper flowers are ready, put a dot of glue on the tip of a popsicle stick and affix your paper flower.
You can also cut out a small circle from a different color construction paper to glue to the center of your paper flower, making the center of each flower. Repeat this process for each flower making several popsicle stick flowers. Once everything is dry, let your kids arrange their popsicle stick flowers in their flower pots!
